Producing Machine

I've been through the thick of it.

I'm producing a music video for an super low budget...well not really. I mean there are lots of factors in it.

But I just have to boast for a little bit.

As of thursday 8PM November 12th, we had 0 people casted for the music video.
As of friday 12pm november 13th, I was able to get 13 people(and these are minors who have to be accompanied by an adult and who have to organize their pickup schedules from school) to audition in a 2 hour block from 6-8pm.

At 7:40pm I get a call from my director saying that only 6 of them worked for the part and that we needed at least 14 more people to make it a cast of 20.

At 9:40pm I was able to book 15 people for an audition the next day.

On Saturday 5:00pm, I was able to book a cast of 28 people for Sunday's shoot. And they are coming with all their parents, wardrobe, and smiling faces eager to participate in a music video.

In less than 48 hours, I was able to pull together a 28 member cast for music video while:

-taking out insurance for rental equipment
-picking up rented grip and lighting equipment and a turntable
-loading into the location with the help of 2 PAs that I was able to get thursday night.
-securing a location for Saturday for rehearsals and casting, and for Sunday for the shoot
-coordinate pickups from the art department for Saturday
-figuring out the budget and figuring out how much we had spent
-coordinating the director's schedule for Friday
-crewing 20 people for the crew
-Watch 4 episodes of Entourage Season 4 disc 3
-interfacing with client and record label on the progress of my casting, location, and shooting schedule
-picking up camera, extra lights, and some gels from a company next door
-go to my big brother's birthday party at Brooklyn Bowl and help pay for the tab that we racked up (I was standing outside the club almost half the time on the phone casting...in the rain).
-picking up and driving the art department to the location for rehearsals Saturday morning, making last minute pickups for wardrobe racks and supplies, while returning a cargo van within 24 hours so that I didn't get charged for another day
-booking another cargo van for monday for pickups
-ordering lunch for the saturday crew that was doing rehearsals and art supplies.

WHAT DID YOU DO TODAY!?
Because I was only able to do this by the grace of God. Amen.

I like going to the gym. It's true that there is a certain "high" from working out. I try to make it there 3 times a week M, T, W either 2-4 or 7-9. I've got a pretty good routine going and I continue to build onto it and challenge myself. I'm so happy that I've been ACTUALLY using this gym membership. I've always put off getting one because I felt like I'd just be too darned busy at work to use any of it. But happily since I'm freelancing I can make my own schedule so I don't have to work myself to the bone till 8pm and then be too exhausted to hit the gym. I don't know if it's cause i increased upper body mass but my waist looks tighter. I'm getting to be able to do 3 miles on the treadmill now. I could barely do 1 before. There things encourage me.

At church we had a great speaker come in to talk about fighting child sex trafficking and she drew an analogy about how she thinks she's sarah conner (doing those one handed pull ups with her psychiatric ward bed against the wall). She confessed she loves the way she looked and thinks she looks pretty hot in a bikini but when she decided to hit the gym for the first time in years, she could barely do 10 pushups. She found that just because she looked good, she wasn't strong. There are many cosmetic things that we do in our life that don't really exert any energy from our spirits and souls. Think about it. When you give to the needy or do something nice for a stranger, are you actually doing it to look good? Or are you exercising genuine love? Do you go the extra mile (or 2 miles!?) for a friend? How about a stranger? There are comfort zones and those are great to train in. But don't let it plateau your strength! Don't let is sap away your faith that God can do greater things in you and that you can be a blessing to others in miraculous ways.

I've never walked or fundraised before in my life. I was able to for the Stop Child Trafficking Now Campaign this past weekend because by faith I wanted to stretch myself and put myself in a position where I had to lift or be crushed by inactivity. I put my own money into funding a Public Service announcement that I wrote, produced and directed...and I don't even have a full-time job! To me this is growth. This encourages me that I am still able to surprise myself.

Body, Soul, spirit, all need to be trained...and it hurts but man, when my ipod his Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer" Boy am I happy to be alive!

Peace, Love, and total groovieness

Summer 09

We've gotten great reviews on Microsoft Office 2010 the movie from tech blogs like TUAW, Gizmodo, Engadget, CNET, Creativity, Ad Age, and 'boards. Some landmarks moments include emails from CCOs of ad agencies, Steve Balmer himself Microsoft's CEO, Producers, director Lee Unkrich (cars, finding nemo, monsters inc, toy story 3), and director Peter Berg (the kingdom, friday night lights, Hancock). We got top #3 viral in the world for 2 days and 1 million hits in 1 week. I mostly have to write all this down here just as a journal entry for my own memory.

Now I'm on a new project with Microsoft this time for Windows 7. It's a great project to be able to dive into since the follow up of the last one from July. I've luckily been able to survive on sparse freelance jobs and some small unemployment checks for now and this project is going to help out. I think this video will be just as funny and action packed. We're messing with cool graphics and writing some funny lines on one of the worlds most popular video games.

I've lately been working out 2-3 times a week. I definitely feel healthier than the first half of this year. My chest and arms have gotten bigger and more toned. My endurance on the treadmill has definitely gotten better too! In the beginning I could only do 1.5 miles at a speed of 3-5 and it took 23 minutes. Now I do 2.5-3 miles at interval speeds of 4-8 and it takes me 23 minutes. I'm breathing better and my heart doesn't feel like it's going to explode. It can get addictive when I challenge myself with adding another 0.5 mile to the record. Going the distance :) I still have the belly though. I don't know how to get rid of that jiggle. Mergh.

So this summer kinda flew by huh? There was .... what... like 3 weeks of heat? It also flew by because of Office 2010. The rest was super mild: sunny but cool breezes. It's gotten chilly with Fall09 approaching already and I'm kinda not ready for it. I still haven't had my fill of tennis, ultimate, and going to coney island.

2.) Project K-Paz
3.) Stop Child Trafficking Now

Editing it now...hopefully it will be good!
